Þriðja vaktin / Third shift
Invisible cognitive labor — a burden when it isn’t equally shared. This kind of work most often falls on women,
in a society that expects them to be conscientious, responsible, and “naturally feminine.” It is time for society
to recognize the work of the third shift and work together toward sharing it equally, so that women are no longer
the only ones quietly carrying the load.

A video project from the course Content at the Iceland University of the Arts. The old photographs depict clear
gender roles from the past that still linger in society today, visible for instance in the unconscious assumption
that women are more suited than men to folding laundry or planning Christmas gifts.
